World renowned actress, humanitarian and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Mia Farrow yesterday ended a five-day visit to Guinea. In the lead-up to the upcoming presidential elections due in June, the mission focused on the plight of children and the need for sustained investment to respond to the needs of children and youth.

U.S. Fund for UNICEF'S annual meeting to take place in Chicago May 4 and 5
The U.S. Fund for UNICEF (USF) announced today that its annual meeting will be held in Chicago on Tuesday, May 4 and Wednesday, May 5 at the Union League Club. The two-day event will include a keynote address by CNN Anchor Anderson Cooper, a tribute to the iconic Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF program which is in its 60th year, and a preview of CNN’s upcoming documentary about Haitian orphans reported by CNN Anchor and Special Correspondent Soledad O’Brien.

Anthony Lake begins tenure as UNICEF's Executive Director
Anthony Lake today begins his tenure as UNICEF’s sixth Executive Director, bringing more than 45 years of public and international service to the position. Mr. Lake was appointed by UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, following consultations with UNICEF’s Executive Board.Mr. Lake has broad experience in international development and children's rights through ongoing work with non-governmental organizations spanning four decades.

Sixty thousand Haitian children to receive life-saving vaccination as part of Vaccination Week of the Americas
An estimated 60,000 Haitian children under the age of five will receive life-saving immunization in the next few days, as part of the Vaccination Week of the Americas – an annual vaccination initiative covering 44 countries and territories in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
