UNICEF providing assistance for children in wake of Pakistan floods

Having completed its early assessment of the situation in northwest Pakistan, UNICEF is now working to deliver much needed aid. UNICEF has supplies pre-positioned and will use them to respond to this emergency. The organization’s country office is providing assistance in the areas of water and sanitation, health, and nutrition.

UNICEF assessing situation following floods in Pakistan

UNICEF staff in northwest Pakistan are assessing the situation following floods driven by record-breaking rainfall. According to news reports, the disaster has killed 800 people and affected 1 million. This is the worst deluge this region of Pakistan has experienced in more than 70 years.

U.S. Fund for UNICEF awarded highest rating for fiscal responsibility by Charity Navigator

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF announced today the organization has received its sixth consecutive four-star rating from Charity Navigator, Americas’ premier independent charity evaluator. Only three percent of the charities rated have received at least six consecutive four-star evaluations. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF also meets the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance's Standards for Charity Accountability.

"Hope for Haiti Now" distributing $5 million to UNICEF in final installment of funds

The U.S. fund for UNICEF today gratefully acknowledged receipt of a $5 million grant from the "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief" telethon which took place on January 22—10 days after the earthquake struck. The funds represent the second of two grants totaling $11 million to UNICEF to be used to further UNICEF's efforts around Child Protection work in Haiti.

"HOPE FOR HAITI NOW" distributing remaining $31 million raised through telethon

"Hope for Haiti Now" (HFHN) today announced the allocation of the remaining $31 million—of the $66 million in total—raised through the Emmy‐nominated telethon "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief." The $31 million will be distributed to partner organizations including Oxfam America, Partners In Health, UNICEF, United Nations World Food Programme, Yelé Haiti Foundation, and the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund that are focused on recovery and reconstruction efforts in Haiti.
